Helena’s Community Cats of SOWEGA is a 501(c)(3) organization, therefore all contributions are tax-deductible as allowed.

• 2026 is our first active year as a non-profit, and 100% of every dollar we receive goes directly towards the care, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and medical expenses.

• We understand it is our fiscal responsibility to keep costs down and therefore utilize free products from companies including Google for Non-Profits, Canva, and others to run the business.

• Our transportation volunteers cover their own expenses for travel and time to/from cat appointments.

Our year to date accomplishments:

Foster Stories

In May we took in 3 healthy bottle babies. In the weeks that they have been with us they have moved on to solid food, with formula several times a day. They have been socialized with dogs, adult cats, and spend a weekend in a busy home with teenagers and more dogs. They love to climb, play, and cuddle to sleep.

In the beginning of June we took in a pregnant cat, Mittens, at the request of her loving family. Two days later Mittens gave birth to 5 healthy kittens. All 6 are doing great, sleeping, eating, and purrrrrring.

It’s still June and we have taken in Annie, a single kitten who was found in the fender of a truck. The requests to take in more kittens continues. Unfortunately, we do not have space for any additional cats unless we are able to secure more foster homes since the kittens we have are not old enough to be adopted.
