Community Impact

Helena’s Community Cats of SOWEGA is a 501(c)(3) organization, therefore all contributions are tax-deductible as allowed.

  • 2026 is our first active year as a non-profit, and 100% of every dollar we receive goes directly towards the care, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and medical expenses.

  • We understand it is our fiscal responsibility to keep costs down and therefore utilize free products from companies including Google for Non-Profits, Canva, and others to run the business.

  • Our transportation volunteers cover their own expenses for travel and time to/from cat appointments.

Our year to date accomplishments:

Foster Stories

In May we took in 3 healthy bottle babies. In the weeks that they have been with us they have moved on to solid food, with formula several times a day. They have been socialized with dogs, adult cats, and spend a weekend in a busy home with teenagers and more dogs. They love to climb, play, and cuddle to sleep.

In the beginning of June we took in a pregnant cat, Mittens, at the request of her loving family. Two days later Mittens gave birth to 5 healthy kittens. All 6 are doing great, sleeping, eating, and purrrrrring.

TNR

Our TNR efforts haven’t picked up, yet. We are dependent on donations to pay for the surgeries and rabies shots. We also are working to secure a veterinary partner locally to provide these services to our community cats at a volume price so that we can have a bigger impact.

Adoptions

We are less than 2 weeks from having our partnership with Petsmart in place for adoptions. At that time, our 3 male kittens will be ready for the furever homes. Check-in with us to read about their adventures.
