Who we are
Helena’s Community Cats of SOWEGA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Corporation established in October 2025, and located in Albany, Georgia. We have successfully secured a location for our cat sanctuary, and received our approval of non-profit status from the IRS. Please connect with us to be notified when the rescue is open for sanctuary, adoptions, volunteering, and donations.
Our sanctuary offering to the community cats:
We will offer no kill sanctuary to adoptable, and non-adoptable cats that come into our care.
The rescue is operated by volunteers, and will be run out of a 2,000 sq ft building, where most of our cats will be able to roam free, play with toys, jump on cat trees, and nap in the sunshine. Our maternity and nursing cat space will be separate to provide a calm and comfortable environment to our mama cats, and their kittens.
In our future expansion, we will offer secure outdoor space to the ferrel cats that come into care, who prefer to live outdoors, and would be suited for barn cat life, rather than house cats.
Our service offering to the community cats:
Medical treatment for any ailments of cats under our care
Spay & neuter of cats in our care, and prior to adoption
A forever home to cats who haven’t met their perfect family
Future: Our service offering to the community, to help control the pet population.
